The officers and members of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad regret to announce the passing of former member, Harry Chandler Finch, Jr., 72, of Mechanicsville on November 21st, 2024. Harry joined the Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad in 1998 as a Driver Only member. In 2003 Harry obtained his EMT certification and became an active member. Harry held multiple positions within the squad, serving as the Engineer for several years. Harry oversaw the new ambulance committee and was instrumental in creating the ambulance replacement rotation. He was also a member of the Board of Directors for the department. He faithfully served the organization until his departure in 2016. Harry also joined the Hollywood Volunteer Rescue Squad as an active member in 2010, leaving in 2015. Harry honorably served the St. Mary’s County Volunteer EMS system for almost two decades. The family will receive friends and family to celebrate Harry on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Brinsfield Funeral Home in Charlotte Hall, MD, from 5:00–8:00 pm with Prayers at 7:00 pm. A Funeral service with Catholic Mass will be held at Immaculate Conception Church on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 10:00 am. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Helen, MD. No apparatus is requested for services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Immaculate Conception Church or the Knights of Columbus, Council #8159.
